The Assistant Restaurant Manager drives dining excellence by fostering a guest-centric culture, ensuring operational efficiency, mentoring teams, and implementing service recovery to exceed brand standards across all dining venues.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The Assistant Restaurant Manager supports exceeding targets in the Dining Room, Alternative Dining, and Buffet areas by promoting a guest- and teammate-centric culture. They ensure food service teammates act as ambassadors, always displaying professionalism and a positive demeanor. The role includes integrating Princess MedallionClass products and services to enhance the guest experience and drive engagement.
  • They help manage the experience ownership concept, address product shortfalls, and ensure service excellence by reviewing guest feedback, identifying trends, and implementing corrective actions. They take ownership of negative service interactions, ensuring prompt, personalized recovery.
  • The Assistant Restaurant Manager ensures all team members provide service that exceeds brand standards, helps align product delivery with guest experience expectations, and supports consistent training on the Dining Reservation System and MedallionClass applications. They assist in staffing, scheduling, and managing meal service to ensure smooth operations across dining locations.
  • They conduct pre-service briefings, review menu content and updates, and ensure that guests' orders are processed accurately and promptly. They are responsible for restaurant charges, beverage stock, and identifying revenue opportunities. Additionally, they minimize waste and equipment mishandling, while fostering a harassment-free, inclusive culture.
  • The role includes mentoring dining teams, providing feedback, and ensuring all teammates complete training that enhances their performance. The Assistant Restaurant Manager also helps the Director of Restaurant Operations or Lido Manager with performance appraisals to ensure fair and accurate assessments.


 

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERTISE

  • The ideal candidate will be a graduate of a recognized Hotel or Catering School, or possess a minimum of five years of relevant experience in a Food and Beverage management role.
  • Previous cruise ship experience is required and candidates must have a deep understanding of food and restaurant service, particularly within the context of cruise ship operations.
  • A strong ability to lead, motivate, and manage subordinates is essential, ensuring a cohesive and high-performing team. 
  • The successful candidate will possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to build rapport and engage effectively with both guests and teammates.
  • Fluency in the English language is required, with a focus on clear and professional communication. 
  • The candidate should have a guest service-oriented mindset, demonstrating a genuine passion for creating memorable guest experiences while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor at all times.
