The incumbent manages a personal lending portfolio, oversees a small team, supports product development and marketing, ensures high customer service standards, and deputizes for the AVP when needed.

 

Manager, Personal Lending

This position reports to the Assistant Vice President, Personal Lending and is responsible for the effective management of a diverse portfolio of personal lending facilities, helping to maximize growth and net return. The incumbent will manage a small team of administrative staff and will be actively involved in product development and marketing. The incumbent will promote and ensure delivery of high levels of customer service at all times and will also deputize as required in the absence of the Assistant Vice President, Personal Lending.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining efficiency and accuracy, ensuring a high level of customer service is provided at all times, identify customer needs and cross-sell the Bank’s products as necessary. 
  • Supporting the Assistant Vice President, Personal Lending in the development and delivery of the Unit’s Business Plan, and assist with the development and maintenance of new and existing personal lending products.
  • Managing, coach and develop direct reports, comprising Personal Lending Officers and Administrative staff, ensuring all skills and personal development requirements are identified and addressed in a timely, efficient and effective manner and performance reviews, both informal and formal are regularly undertaken.
  • Ensuring all facilities are fully documented and, where collateral is required, full, clear and accurate instructions are passed to Credit Risk Management.
  • Exercising a delegated lending limit.
  • Liaising with Personal Lending Officers on specific loan queries, and provides guidance, support and coaching as required.
  • Dealing with customers’ queries in a prompt and professional manner, resolving underlying issues.
  • Tracking, analysing and reporting product performance and discern relevant market trends.
  • Ensuring the Bank’s audit guidelines and procedures are adhered to at all times.
  • Managing the reporting for the Personal Lending Department, delegating where appropriate to the Personal Lending Officers and Administrative support staff.
  • Deputizing for the Assistant Vice President, Personal Lending where necessary.
  • Promoting ideas for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the Personal Lending Team’s activities and presenting these ideas to the Assistant Vice President, Personal Lending.
  • Keeping abreast of the local economic and business environment to maintain awareness of market changes.
  • Representing Butterfield at all times in a manner that portrays the ideals and image of the Bank as a trustworthy and reputable corporate citizen. Maintain excellent community relations in order to uphold the Bank’s visibility and community standing.
  • Assisting with other duties as requested by the Assistant Vice President, Personal Lending.

Your qualifications and skills include:

  • University degree and/or recognized Banking Qualification
  • At least 7 years banking experience with at least 3 years involved in credit, preferably with management experience
  • Proven ability to independently make accurate credit decisions and analyse risk
  • Well-developed organizational, oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient in use of MS Office, Work, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships with customers and employees
  • Ability to operate in a busy environment meeting tight deadlines while maintaining a high level of professionalism
