The incumbent administers basic dental treatments to children, identifies complex conditions for referral to a dentist, participates in dental health education, sterilizes equipment, and maintains patient registers and reports.

 

JOB OVERVIEW

The incumbent will be responsible to coordinate and provide a high quality of Dental Nursing care services to all patients in a timely, efficient and effective manner and to provide support services to the Dental practitioner and the relevant Department to ensure the delivery of a high standard of health care.

 

KEY FUNCTIONS

  • Executes and administers relatively simple dental treatment on children in accordance with established and approved procedures and guidelines to ensure the timeliness, accuracy and reliability of dental nursing processes and plans.
  • Recognizes dental conditions requiring special care and makes referrals to the Dentist.
  • Participates in Dental Health Education Programmes
  • Sterilizes dental instruments and equipments.
  • Prepares monthly/annual reports as required.
  • Maintains patient register and records dental treatments administered to patients.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE

  • A University Degree, Diploma or Certificate in the field of Dental Nursing / Dental Auxiliaries
  • Registered with the Dental Council of Trinidad and Tobago
  • At least two (2) years post qualification experience in a similar or related job function.
