The technician operates and maintains the hyperbaric chamber and equipment, assists with cleaning and documentation, manages supplies, and performs TCOM studies under supervision.

 

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Operates the Hyperbaric Chamber, related operating systems and equipment under the supervision of the Hyperbaric Safety Officer (HSO).
  • Maintains, and services the Hyperbaric Chamber, related operating systems and equipment under the supervision of the HSO.
  • Cleans the Hyperbaric Chamber on a regular basis with the HSO to reduce the risk of corrosion and fire.
  • Maintains accurate documentation of all medical treatments provided in the chamber as well as records of test or training dives in the “Dive Log” whenever serving as a chamber operator. Assists the HSO in maintaining mechanical logs pertinent to the operation of the hyperbaric chamber and related operating systems.
  • Orders, stocks, and maintains par levels of equipment and supplies required for the operation of the hyperbaric chamber and the provision of wound care in consultation with the Clinical Manager of the Hyperbaric and Wound Care Unit and HSO.
  • Performs Transcutaneous Oxygen Measurement (TCOM) studies under the supervision of the Clinical Manager of the Hyperbaric and Wound Care Unit.

 

Qualifications & Training required:

  • Certified Hyperbaric Technician (CHT) from National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine Technology (NBDHMT) – USA; or similar qualification
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification (BLS Provider)
  • At least 2 years' experience working in a Hyperbaric Unit preferred
  • Computer Literate
  • Able to work within a confined space (chamber)
