Unit secretaries are responsible for providing and maintaining a consistent and high level of front-line customer service to all patients and customers. Answer patient queries in an informed manner.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Checks patient requisition forms
  • Confirms correct orders are placed into Meditech
  • Follows up with pre-certification and co-pay requirements through pre-registration department
  • Verifies patient payments
  • Emails all digitized documents to the patient for completion before exam (MRI pre-screening, Mammography pre-screening, Outpatient Fall Risk assessment, Krames information forms on their procedures)
  • Monitors department email for requisitions coming from physician offices and completed patient Jot Forms with signatures
  • Ensures patient information is accurate on Meditech and requisition forms
  • Prepares appropriate documents for technologist to perform patient procedures
  • Monitors and manages wait times for each patient
  • Assists with departmental workflow through the direction of patients to the appropriate areas, changing areas, procedure rooms, etc.
  • Schedules patient appointments through CWS.
  • Ensures all completed patient forms are scanned into Meditech
  • Appropriately places the scanned forms into the modality pockets provided for timely reporting
  • Checks Meditech for all reported studies
  • Uses Crypto Chart QR reader to provide the requested patient images
  • Emails the completed report, QR code with access to their study images, and patient survey to each patient

Non-Essential Functions

  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Education:

  • High school diploma
  • Minimum of two years in a clinical setting
  • Medical Terminology Certification
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office


EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of one year’s  previous clerical experience or a high school graduate with
  • experience in either office procedures, keyboarding, typing or computer skills. Knowledge of Medical terminology is an asset.


CERTIFICATION:

  • It would be an asset to have Certification as a Medical Administrative Assistant or Certified Medial Assistant.
