The incumbent designs, builds, tests, and maintains applications across the development lifecycle, collaborating with stakeholders and teams to ensure optimal performance, integration, and code quality.

 

JOB PURPOSE:

Under the supervision of the Product Manager, the Programmer/Analyst is responsible for analysing business requirements, designing, developing, and maintaining software applications and systems. The Incumbent will collaborate with business analysts, project managers, and other stakeholders to understand system requirements and deliver quality solutions.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyzes system requirements and business processes to develop software solutions.
  • Designs, develops and maintains software applications using programmes languages such as Java, C# or Ruby.
  • Conducts unit testing and resolves software issues.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to gather and document system requirements.
  • Assists in the creation and maintenance of technical documentation.
  • Troubleshoots and debugs software applications to ensure functionality and performance.
  • Collaborates with database administrators to ensure data integrity and optimal performance.
  • Collaborates with UI/UX designers to create intuitive and visually appealing user interfaces.
  • Integrates software applications with external systems and APIs.
  • Provides support and assistance to Senior Programmer Analyst in resolving technical issues.
  • Assists in the implementation of coding standards and guidelines.
  • Participates in the software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing and deployment.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • 1-2 Years experience in programming or software development
  • Relevant industry certificates (e.g. Oracle Java SE)

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C++ or Python
  • Experience with database management systems, such as Oracle or MySQL.

  • Familiarity with software development methodologies, such as Agile or Scrum.
  • Understanding of software testing and debugging techniques.
  • Knowledge of version control systems, such as Git or SVN.
  • Ability to design and develop APIs (Application Programming Interfaces).
  • Experience with mobile application development is a plus.
  • Understanding of network protocols and client-server architecture.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms, such as AWS or Azure.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills in software development.
  • Knowledge of software security practices and data protection act/regulations.
