The incumbent supports Restorative Justice operations by assisting with community mobilization, data collection, program monitoring, conference coordination, and administrative tasks, while helping to evaluate interventions and facilitate training.

 

Job Purpose

The Restorative Justice Field Officer (RJFO) supports the Restorative Justice Parish Officer. The focal areas of support for the RJFO are:

  • Community Mobilization and Governance (e.g. preparation of community sensitization and public awareness plans, restorative practices training to schools and community-based organizations, implementation of restorative justice and other necessary rapid impact projects);
  • Violence Prevention and Capacity Building;
  • Restorative Justice programmes and conferences; and
  • Social Marketing and administrative support.

Key Responsibility Areas:

  • Assist the Restorative Justice Officer in mobilizing the community and organizing meetings/ consultations with respect to the development of Community Development and Safety Plans including assisting in the collection of relevant data; 
  • Assist in monitoring the activities of non-governmental organizations (NGO) service providers engaged to deliver Restorative Justice programmes to the community including the collection of relevant data;
  • Engage with Restorative Justice beneficiaries and support staff to carry out assessments as instructed, and provide findings to support the development of community safety development plans;
  • Follow up with stakeholders to obtain relevant information required to inform plans and initiatives
  • Assist in arranging Restorative Justice conferences; and 
  • Performs administrative functions in the Restorative Justice Office. 
  • Other Tasks 
  • The RJFO will undertake any other tasks assigned by his/ her supervisor. 
  • Works towards building a high performing team; and 
  • Excellent Computer Skills (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel). 
  • Assists in planning and executing Restorative Justice training sessions for schools, community groups and other stakeholders as scheduled. 
  • Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of restorative justice interventions within assigned communities and recommends corrective actions and programme improvements based on findings.

This job is satisfactorily performed when: 

  • Community mobilization and stakeholder engagement activities are conducted according to approved work plans and timelines. 
  • Meetings, consultations and community engagement sessions are organized, documented and reported within agreed timeframes. 
  • Monitoring activities relating to NGO service providers are conducted and findings submitted in accordance with programme guidelines. 
  • Community assessments and beneficiary interviews are completed and documented within established timelines. 
  • Relevant stakeholder information, data and supporting documentation are collected, verified and submitted as requested. 
  • Training sessions, workshops and public education activities are coordinated and supported in accordance with approved schedules. 
  • Restorative Justice conferences, meetings and special events are organized efficiently and all logistical arrangements completed before scheduled dates. 
  • Administrative records, correspondence and programme files are maintained accurately and in accordance with Ministry procedures. 
  • Activity reports, data summaries and work-plan updates are accurate, complete and submitted by established deadlines. 
  • Professionalism, confidentiality and integrity are consistently demonstrated in interactions with stakeholders and community members. 
  • Monitoring and evaluation reports completed and submitted within established timelines, with recommendations contributing to continuous programme improvement. 
  • Collaborative working relationships are maintained with internal and external stakeholders to support programme objectives.

Minimum Required Education and Experience

Qualifications and Experience 

  • Associate Degree in Social Work/Counselling/Psychology or other related Social Science or Arts
  • Preferably three (3) years working experience in a low-income community 
  • Experience in working or volunteering in a community-based organization 

Continuous Professional Development 

  • Attend relevant training on emerging trends and practices within the field. 
  • Network within the profession and relevant associations to keep abreast with the industry.

Specific Essential Conditions associated with the job

  • Work will be conducted in an office outfitted with standard office equipment and specialized software 
  • Work beyond normal office hours 
  • The environment is fast paced with on-going interactions with critical stakeholders and meeting tight deadlines which will result in high degrees of pressure, on occasions. 
  • May be required to travel locally to attend conferences, seminars and meetings 
  • Willingness to work in volatile community 
  • Must be willing to work at 50% of the time in the field
