The Senior Gift Shop Associate plays a key role in creating a welcoming and positive first impression, setting the tone for an enjoyable visitor experience.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide friendly service to park visitors (internal and external).
  • Greet park visitors and provide general information about the BNT and the park (including visitor fees, safety, trails, wildlife, park rules and regulations).
  • Coordinate event bookings for the park, this includes providing booking information, rules and regulations governing events held at the facility, fees etc.
  • Answer inquiries, provide directions and represent the BNT at all times via telephone or in person.
  • Collect visitor and membership fees.
  • Drive sales through engagement of visitors, suggestive selling, and sharing product knowledge.
  • Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of Giftshop.
  • Document sales by updating reporting templates and records electronically (computer) or using hard copies.
  • Keep accurate financial records and report to finance as needed.
  • Process payments by totaling purchases, processing checks, cash, and credit and debit cards.
  • Alert management of potential security issues or park violations.
  • Exercise sound judgement in regard to visitor management and safety as well as in coordinating event bookings for the park.
  • Assist with inventory, including submitting order requests, receiving, and stocking merchandise.
  • Assist employees and visitors when needed.
  • Any other reasonable request relevant to the scope of your duties.

 

Operational Requirements

  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
  • Exposure to variable weather conditions (rainy, hot, cold).
  • Exposure to dust, cleaning products and wildlife (lizards, spiders, insects etc.)
  • Work in an environment with uneven terrain.

 

Required Skills

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in the use of office equipment (e.g. computer, printer, telephone etc.)
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft word and Excel.
  • Good time management.
  • Attention to detail and organized.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement.
  • Motivated to take initiative, identify gaps, and share recommendations.
  • Ability to problem solve.
