Senior System Administrator

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the technical design, planning, implementation, administration and recovery procedures for mission critical enterprise systems, applications and networks. 
• Identifies methods, solutions, and provides project leadership and management in order to provide a high level of service to the customers of the department.
• Participate in or lead the execution of multiple projects at one time. Perform analyses of systems, hardware or software to uncover issues and solve problems.
• Conduct system demos to educate and train others in the use of the system. Debug and correct complex system defects.
• Install new software releases and system upgrades, evaluate and install OS patches and resolve software related issues.
• Serve as a mentor to junior team members, providing training as necessary, building, and maintaining trusted relationships with co-workers and vendors

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field from a recognized tertiary institution with six (6) years related experience.
• Current Microsoft MCSE, VMWare VCP/VCAP, CWNA or Network+ certification a plus.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, Active Directory, SSL, IIS, SQL, WSUS, storage solutions and cloud computing.
• Demonstrated experience planning, deploying and administering Exchange, Active Directory, VMware vSphere, Windows and Linux servers and desktops and Active Directory with strong scripting and automation experience (PowerShell, VB) highly desired
• Practical experience working with application, system and network monitoring and vulnerability management solutions.
• Practical knowledge and experience working with network analyzers.
• Understanding of IT management and incident management frameworks (such as ITIL and COBIT) preferred
• Demonstrates superior analytical, problem solving, troubleshooting, and debugging skills
• Excellent oral and written communications skills.
• Self-starter who demonstrates initiative and is willing to assume responsibility.
• Adaptive, flexible, and resourceful individual that is results orientated.
• Strong ability to write, interpret and follow technical installation document, policies, and procedures.
