Senior Vice President, Group Head of the IT Business Office 

Reporting to the Chief Information Officer (CIO), this position provides leadership and guidance in critical areas of technology administration at the Bank, including strategic planning and execution, acquisition integration, oversight of both project and vendor management offices, budgeting and overall performance management.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Partnering with the CIO in providing technology vision and direction for the enterprise.
  • Serving on behalf of the CIO as the principal IT Officer, as requested.
  • Leading overall information technology strategic planning to achieve business goals by prioritising information technology initiatives and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future technology projects.
  • Managing the CIO team
  • Overseeing the development and maintenance of IT policies, procedures, methodologies, and governance — as well as performance management frameworks and metrics — to ensure the IT organisation delivers value to the enterprise.
  • Working with the CIO and business leadership team, providing broad insight to IT capabilities in support of enterprise wide business decisions.
  • Providing leadership for acquisition integration.
  • Establishing and implementing continuous-improvement programs for the IT organisation.
  • Directing the preparation, review and consolidation of business plans and budgets for the IT organisation.
  • Implementing and leveraging advanced analytics to increase insight into technology investments across the enterprise.
  • Providing leadership for planning, developing, and implementing information technology initiatives.
  • Managing the program management office, overseeing and resourcing committed projects, ensuring each are managed in accordance with the bank’s guiding principles and reporting according to the office’s terms of reference.
  • Managing strategic vendor and other partner relationships.
  • Driving effective collaboration and communications between the IT organisation and internal and external stakeholders.

 

Your qualifications and skills include:

This position requires a highly motivated self-starter who is able to provide strategic thought leadership and lead projects with limited guidance. The individual must be composed, organised, culturally aware and a strong communicator who can effectively multitask and prioritise as needs evolve. Additional qualifications include:

  • University degree in business administration or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in IT and business/industry, especially in a consulting or advisory service role.
  • 10 years’ experience in a leadership role, including proven experience building and leading teams with direct people management responsibility. Expertise in budget planning, financial management and workforce management is essential.
  • Experience in business/industry (beyond IT), managing cross-functional teams or projects, and influencing executive-level management and key stakeholders.
  • Broad knowledge of current and emerging technologies, technology directions, and strategic application to business needs, including the ability to differentiate between a relevant trend and hype.
  • Ability to analyse complex business and technology issues, working through internal and external partners to develop the best solutions for the company, balancing both costs and risks of delivery, is required.
  • Experience with technology vendor management and in-depth knowledge of banking systems, branch banking, and processes, including: SWIFT payments, Alliance Cloud, Oracle Core and Oracle online banking applications, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
  • Experience integrating all aspects of banking and trust acquisitions, including staffing business processes and technology.
  • Solid analytical and financial acumen and demonstrated ability to drive results, think strategically and globally.
  • Proven ability to navigate effectively and efficiently within the Bank environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technology solutions in business terms, establish rapport and persuade others. Proven ability to take complex technical information and translate it into clear communications (presentations / memos) for a variety of audiences is essential.
  • Outstanding interpersonal / relationship building skills. Must be a team player who can build consensus and work across a large and diverse organisation.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, work effectively in ambiguous situations, and a willingness to take charge and drive results.
  • Ability to improve operational efficiency, service delivery and information management across the IT organisation.
  • Ability and willingness to travel.

 

About the team

Information Technology covers a wide range of responsibilities at Butterfield including oversight of the Bank’s entire technology infrastructure, software development and maintenance to facilitate online product development and efficiencies as well as management of the website and intranet platforms. IT also plays a critical role in ensuring the Bank’s systems are kept safe and secure from cyber criminals.
