Overview

URC is recruiting a Belize-based Urgent Care Specialist for an anticipated opportunity to provide technical support for the Belize Quality and Efficiency Improvement Strategy (QEIS). The Specialist will contribute expertise in accident and emergency (A&E) care, focusing on the development and implementation of standardized triage, emergency management protocols, and patient flow systems. The role will strengthen the capacity of A&E services to deliver timely, efficient, and high-quality urgent care.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance on triage, urgent care, and emergency response protocols.
  • Support the adaptation and implementation of SOPs for emergency room workflows and patient flow.
  • Conduct training and mentorship for A&E and urgent care staff in evidence-based emergency management.
  • Contribute to the design and use of monitoring tools to track performance and outcomes of urgent care services.
  • Collaborate with the Ministry of Health and Welless and facility managers to strengthen referral pathways and continuity of care.
  • Participate in the evaluation and continuous improvement of emergency and urgent care services.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Medical Doctor with specialization in Emergency Medicine, Urgent Care, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ clinical experience in urgent or emergency care.
  • Demonstrated experience developing or implementing A&E protocols, triage guidelines, or SOPs.
  • Experience in capacity building and staff training in emergency settings.
  • Familiarity with Belize’s healthcare system and local hospital operations is strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
