We are seeking an experienced and reliable Handyman to join our resort operations team.

This role is critical to ensuring that the resort’s physical infrastructure, guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities are maintained to high operational, safety, and aesthetic standards. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance across the resort property, including guest rooms, villas, restaurants, recreational facilities, and staff housing.
  • Maintain and repair building systems and equipment, including:
    • Plumbing systems (pipes, fixtures, pumps, water heaters) o Electrical systems (lighting, outlets, panels, minor controls) o HVAC systems (basic troubleshooting, filter changes, minor repairs) o Carpentry (doors, furniture, cabinetry, trim, fixtures)
    • Painting, patching, and finishing of interior and exterior surfaces
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and guest-related issues to minimize disruption to resort operations and guest satisfaction.
  • Be available for on-call emergency repairs, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays, as required.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify potential maintenance issues and safety hazards before they escalate.
  • Assist with room turns, renovations, and refurbishment projects as scheduled by management.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, fire, and environmental regulations at all times. • Coordinate with external contractors and vendors when specialized repairs are required.
  • Support with additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong practical knowledge across multiple trades, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general building maintenance.
  • Ability to diagnose problems, prioritize tasks, and implement effective repair solutions with minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity with tools, equipment, and safety procedures relevant to resort and hotel maintenance.
  • Good time management skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Service-oriented mindset with an understanding of hospitality standards and guest expectations.
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, climbing ladders, and working in confined or outdoor spaces.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of four (4) years of hands-on experience in hotel, resort, commercial, or similar.
  • Some college, technical school, or vocational certification in maintenance, engineering, building systems, or a related field is preferred.
  • Prior experience working in a hotel or resort environment is highly desirable.
  • Valid trade certifications or licenses (where applicable) are an asset.

Work Schedule

  • Full-time position
  • Shift work may include weekends, evenings, and public holidays
  • On-call availability required for emergency maintenance situations
