Reporting to the President & Group Chief Risk Officer, this position is responsible for leading a team of Credit Risk Analysts to develop, implement and maintain a group-wide platform for loan portfolio analysis and reporting.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Researching, recommending and implementing new analytical tools to facilitate querying, ad hoc analysis, and automated report production that leverages technology.
  • Researching, understanding and addressing the reporting requirements of US GAAP, SEC and Sarbanes-Oxley for US publicly-listed companies as pertains to loan processes and accounting.
  • Maintaining, in tandem with Group Finance, a model for loan provisioning under an expected credit loss model (“CECL”). Maintain and provide reporting based on a “loss given default” model, and more in-depth sensitivity and trend analysis.
  • Maintaining and providing ongoing reporting to ensure compliance with Basel III and other regulatory requirements.
  • Providing insight and expertise on the ongoing development of MI data gathering and reporting methods to support management reports and credit risk reporting including the identification and tracking of existing and emerging credit risks including recommendations of potential mitigating solutions.
  • Direct development of accurate data mining processes to ensure group loans and other credit exposures are properly monitored, measured and controlled within prudent banking principles.
  • Maintaining advanced financial models and methodologies to stress test credit portfolios. Prepare and enhance annual group stress test methodologies, deploying industry best practices.
  • Ensuring accurate reporting of key risk indicators, including provisions and non-accrual loans.
  • Identifying areas of risk and formulate reports on findings for submission and discussion with Senior Management.
  • Managing the monthly collection, analysis and reporting of group loan data for submission to Senior Management.


Your qualifications and skills include:

  • An undergraduate degree, equivalent qualification, or at least five years’ relevant experience.
  • Accounting or finance professional designation, with 3 years relevant post qualification experience in financial services. Experience with a major accounting firm and financial services audit experience would be an asset.
  • Post-secondary degree in Business, Commerce or equivalent.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office products, particularly advanced use of Excel and Access and related databases.
  • Strong knowledge of Oracle Financial Suite of products, specifically Flexcube Core Banking System would be an asset
  • Advanced understanding of accounting approaches for consumer and commercial debt.
  • Exceptional numerical and analytical skills with the ability to summarise complex results efficiently and succinctly.
  • Strong knowledge of banking products.
  • Knowledge of data analysis tools including skills to develop analysis queries and procedures in SQL, SAS, and other business intelligence and analysis software applications for data segmentation, aggregation, and statistics.
  • Strong database management and data extraction skills
  • Advanced knowledge of statistical techniques for loss forecasting, migration analysis, risk rating validation and regression building
  • Ability to recognize incorrect or underdeveloped data sources and develop alternative solutions
  • Experience and knowledge of financial models to stress test credit portfolios as part of BASEL III with the ability to apply advanced methodologies
  • Experience with Credit Stress Scenarios and Stress Modeling techniques applying advanced methodologies.
  • Ability to work with large databases and datasets for extraction, conversion into useful business information, and analytical purposes
  • Excellent presentation skills together with proven written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good attention to detail to enable efficient review of data and reports for trends and potential inconsistencies.
