The incumbent administers complex trust and corporate portfolios, manages high-level client and third-party relationships, ensures legal and AML compliance, monitors relationship profitability to meet revenue targets, and mentors direct reports.

 

Assistant Manager, Private Clients

This position reports to the Senior Manager, Trust and will be primarily managing, administering and be responsible for a complex portfolio of private client structures with a particular focus on relationship development and management, revenue generation and the resolution of complex issues. 

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • administering a portfolio of complex trust and corporate structures, holding financial portfolio and non-financia; portfolio assets
  • managaing relationships with settlors, beneficiaries, protectors and beneficial owners, Family Office principals and/or investment managers, financial and legal advisors, and other third parties, delivering a prompt and high level of service
  • ensuring that all structures are administered in accordance with applicble laws, relevant constitutitional documents and Butterfield and Trust Group policies and procedures in force from time to time
  • monitoring, verfiying and approving account transactions, bank and brokerage statements to ensure a strong AML environment
  • monitoring the profitability of each relationship through the acucrate recording of the time spent, charging and collecting fees as agreed and special fees where appropriate for unusual work, meeting agreed revenue targets from exisiting and new relationships
  • assisting in the budget process
  • managing, mentoring and coaching any direct reports effectively.

Your qualifications and skills include:

  • minimum of five years' experience in the private trust industry of which two years must be as a team leader
  • STEP, ACIB diploma or ACIS qualification 
  • excellent knowledge of trust and company administration
  • good knoweldge of investments and/or banking
  • strong interpersonal and team management skills
  • excellent communication skills both written and spoken
  • proficient in MS Office and experience with Navision trust system.
