The incumbent processes applications, advises stakeholders on regulations, ensures compliance, compiles statistical reports, and monitors foreign currency transactions.

 

CORE FUNCTIONS:

  • Process Exchange Control applications related to foreign currency accounts, offshore borrowings, designation of companies, registration of foreign capital flows and foreign investment related projects and current items.
  • Provide guidance and advice to financial institutions, law firms and other stakeholders on Exchange Control matters and applicable legislation (e.g., Exchange Control Act & the Regulations, Stamp Act, Conveyancing, International Persons Land Holding Act, etc.).
  • Ensure compliance with the Central Bank’s penalty regime and ensure that identified breaches of Exchange Control requirements are properly addressed.
  • Compiling statistical data and prepare balance of payments, capital and capital financing, Monetary Policy Committee, biannual, annual and ad hoc reports.
  • Reconcile foreign currency sales data and monitor the online submission of foreign currency accounts and sales transactions.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, economics, legal studies or related discipline from a recognized tertiary institution.
  • Seasoned knowledge of Exchange Control Act, Regulations and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Seasoned knowledge of financial sector, corporate, stamp and other relevant legislation.
  • Sound analytical, decision making and problem solving skills.
  • Sound understanding of financial statements.
  • Sound knowledge of international compliance standards and KYC requirements.
  • Seasoned knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Sound planning and time management skills.
  • Minimum of (3) years related experience. 
  • Legal skills a plus.
